The following are descriptions of courses I have taken at the university level across a variety of disciplines.
Spanish Language Courses - These courses exemplify my study of the mechanics of the Spanish language.

Elementary Spanish (SPAN 1020)
An in-depth study of grammar and vocabulary essentials. Training in oral and written fundamentals. Emphasis on conversational oral skills, vocabulary, and grammar structures.
Intermediate Spanish (SPAN 2010, 2020)
Brief review of fundamental grammar and vocabulary. Greater focus on practicing conversation and extended oral presentations as well as lengthier written compositions. Survey of various cultural literature and resources such as songs, news videos, and news articles.
Intermediate Spanish Conversation and Composition I (SPAN 3050)
A comprehensive focus on oral skills, specifically emphasizing conversation development, vocabulary, listening comprehension, and pronunciation. Additional practice in mastering grammatical form through medium length compositions.
Advanced Spanish I
A focused emphasis on specific oral and written registers. A study of vocabulary in enhanced and technical areas for grammatical accuracy such as culinary, nature, and personality terms. Taken at the University of Alicante while studying abroad.
Spanish Conversation (HON 2090)
Analyze short stories, articles, short films and other authentic texts from the Spanish-speaking world. Apply Spanish language and culture knowledge and use problem-solving techniques to design and solve virtual escape rooms in Spanish.
Culture Courses - These courses involve studies of various foundational structures which have influenced both culture and people as the culture and the people influence one another.

Government and Politics in Spain
Covered topics related to the Spanish political system. Practice developing a theoretical foundation for analyzing current political issues on a national and international scale. Taken at the University of Alicante while studying abroad. *Taught in Spanish.

Economic and Political Institutions of the European Union
A class focused on the analysis of the history and origins of the European Union as well as its contemporary discourse and future trajectory, particularly through an economic lens. A study of the differences in EU Member State economics and the presence of the EU on the international stage. Taken at the University of Alicante while studying abroad.
Literature and Humanities Courses - The following courses involve a variety of studies into different forms, styles, and languages of literature across place and time as well as other studies into the nature of human existence and critical methods of inquiry focused on different topics.

Introduction to Hispanic Literary Forms (SPAN 3040)
A comprehensive review of the techniques and elements for analyzing literature in the Spanish language through the understanding of content to drawing on themes, symbols, tone, the perception of time, etc. Presentation and critical analysis of Spanish poetry, movies, essays, short stories. *Taught in Spanish.

20th Century and Contemporary Spanish Poetry
Exploration of Spanish poets and their work from the early 20th century to the present. Critical analysis of the elements of poetry. Taken at the University of Alicante while studying abroad. *Taught in Spanish.
Critical Writing on Literature (ENGL 3100)
A diligent study of terms and techniques for literary analysis from close reading to research and writing skills and a large focus on group discussion of course texts. Discussion for applications of literary criticism to other fields of study.

Feminist Literary Criticism (ENGL 4360)
An introduction to the foundational texts of feminist literary theory and criticism with a guiding question of, “Is social equality possible under capitalism?” A specific emphasis on works of BIPOC women and globally marginalized communities as well the study of major critical methodologies with a feminist lens.
Introduction to Creative Writing: Poetry (ENGL 3460)
A rigorous overview of the poetic form, critical analysis of poetry, and methods of writing poetry. A study of The Penguin Anthology of 20th Century American Poetry, Mary Oliver’s A Poetry Handbook, and various other contemporary poets and works of poetry.

Applied Linguistics: Foreign Language Teaching Methodology
An introduction to the methods of teaching Spanish as a second language with an emphasis in communicative language teaching through an overview of their principal didactic fundamentals. Also provided an overview of the techniques used to stimulate listening comprehension, writing skills, oral interaction, and the exercise of vocabulary and grammar in the classroom. Taken at the University of Alicante while studying abroad. *Taught in Spanish.

Introduction to Linguistics and Foreign Language Learning (LANG 3000)
A thorough overview of the field of linguistics and its application in language acquisition and second language acquisition, including a study of phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics.
Other Significant Courses - The following courses are included on this page and noted as significant because they provided me a foundational understanding of the business concepts of management and marketing, easily translatable into a variety of settings whether that be the non-profit or corporate world.

Principles of Management (MGT 2010)
An introduction to the study of management as a factor of company health and success as well as economic production. A detailed examination of the function and methods of management in addition to foundational principles of organization and the measurement interpersonal behavior in organizations. Focus on practical applications and real-life scenarios.
Principles of Marketing (MKT 3010)
An introductory presentation of the principles, methods, and concepts involved in the planning, pricing, promoting, and distributing of goods and services. An exploration of contemporary examples and an overview of more specific types of marketing such as social media marketing, advertising, global marketing, and brand communication.
